Laboratory of Medical Genetics, Harbin Medical University
Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Date Posted:  08/22/2008
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

Job Description
Two Postdoctoral Associate positions are available immediately for motivated scientists with Ph.D. or M.D. degree and a strong background in human genetics and computational genetics, especially in bioinformatics analysis of genomics and proteomics data..One project is structural and functional research on Double minute chromosomes (DMs), which will study the functional role of DMs in the cancer genesis and progression. Microdissection technology is applied to separate the double minute chromosomes (DMs) in tumor cells for the subsequent cloning and sequencing of DMs. The other project is  genetic resource preservation and diversity research in different populations of China. Chinese human genetic resource bank-the Harbin Bank as well as preservation of precious genetic samples of 56 populations in China, the special populations, the diseased and its corresponding control populations have been successfully established using the method of Epstein Barr virus transformation of human B lymphoblastoid cells.  Detailed information can be got through http://www.hmugenet.com/en/index.asp.
These projects are all funded on separate “National Natural Science Foundation of China” grants.
These positions are especially recommended to Science & Technology Fellowship Programme in China (STF CHINA), and are for 2 years with starting date as early as March 1st, 2009.
